In the bleak days of the Cold War, espionage veteran George Smiley is forced from semi-retirement to uncover a Soviet agent within MI6′s echelons.
John le Carré’s 1974 novel, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, was originally created for the screen as a 1979 seven part series, starring Alec Guinness in his iconic turn as George Smiley. Now the story’s mantle has been passed to Tomas Alfredson, director of the legendary Let The Right One In, who, for his first English-language film, has assembled a mind-boggling cast.
The film stars Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, Toby Jones, Mark Strong, Benedict Cumberbatch, Ciarán Hinds and John Hurt and premiered at the 2011 Venice Film Festival in September to rave reviews.
Join us for a very special advanced screening (the film releases Jan 19, 2012) and see it before everyone else!
TOMAS ALFREDSON
Alfredson was born into Swedish comedy royalty, his father, writer, director and comedian Hans ‘Hasse’ Alfredson is a Swedish icon. With an early start in Swedish television, Tomas forged a path in kid’s television and comedy. He joined comedy group ‘The Kid-Goat Gang’ in 1999 and directed four TV films, which lead to the cinema release of Four Shades of Brown – which won Alfredson the Swedish equivalent of an Oscar (the ‘Guldbagge’) for Direction in 2004. In 2008, he made the unlikely genre switch to vampires, directing the iconic Let The Right One In, which took the world by storm in the next few years, and has since become a classic of modern cinema; a stylishly chilling antidote to the ‘Twilight’ films.
