Art Linson, known for producing such films as Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Casualties of War, Fight Club and The Untouchables has completed a script entitled The Comedian, following the antics of an insult comic. Making news today is his wish list for director and star of the project. Linson isn’t thinking small, he’s thrown out the net in the hope of nabbing the biggest fish in the game; Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro.
While Linson recently collaborated with De Niro in the forgettable What Just Happened?, based on his autobiographical account of Hollywood, De Niro has expressed interest in the project while Daily Blam reports that Scorsese’s workload is too large to even consider it.
Fans of a collaboration between the pair (which hasn’t been seen on screen since 1995′s Casino) can instead hold their breathe for Scorsese’s planned 2013 release of Sinatra which is heavily rumoured to be starring both De Niro and Al Pacino. Although no official casting has been announced, one can wish, hope and pray for a repeat instance of both greats scorching screen-time together akin to Heat… but not the accidental fart that was Righteous Kill.
